Four people have been injured after a gasoline tanker truck lost control and crashed into a vacant commercial building, leading to a massive fire on Long Island. Local residents agree it was one of the worst accidents they’ve ever seen.

The driver of the truck was injured and taken to the hospital. He was questioned by the Rockville Center police department and later released. Three of the 150 firefighters were also treated for injuries.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire that also damaged a liquor store beside the showroom. All utilities in the area were shut off leaving 500 homes without power.

Naireka Lauture, a witness said that the area was shaken by five explosions. She added, “It was really scary because you don’t know how the fire is going to spread or where it’s going to go.”

Police and authorities are still unclear how the truck was overturned, and an investigation is underway.
