An infant was killed after a car was rear-ended by a tow truck this morning in Harris County.

The baby was in a Nissan sedan stopped at a stoplight when the tow truck crashed into the vehicle, local officials said.

Jose Luna, the tow truck driver, is charged with vehicular manslaughter and remains in police custody. Reports indicate he was speeding and didn’t use his brakes at all prior to the accident. He also spent five years in custody in 2004 for the sexual assault of a child. He was sentenced to an additional six months in jail in 2011 for a drug-related charge.

According to ABC 13, the accident happened near the 6600 block of Cunningham close to West Little York Road at 10:15 a.m.

The baby was rushed to a local hospital where he later passed away. He was four to seven months old. His mother was also involved in the accident but her condition is unknown at this time.
